Slashdot posted a story that highlights Vietnam’s tech boom, something that we are following because of our continuing market research on the Southeast Asian digital games market. While Vietnam continues to have strict regulatory policies governing telecom and digital games distribution, the market is one of the most exciting to watch within SEA.
China’s New Pricing for Mobile Carriers
People’s Daily Newspaper reported the latest pricing scheme for mobile data by China’s three leading mobile carriers. This follows on the previous system of “speeding up and charging less”. The new scheme will involve 5 tiers of network charges, and the price per unit will fall as consumption rises. The rollout will begin with a few test provinces and cities.
Ai You Xi Partnership with CMGE
Ai You Xi (www.play.cn), China Telecom’s only game platform (launched in 2010), has formed a strategic partnership with CMGE. The two companies will cooperate on game operations and marketing, and will try to merge gaming and telecom services. Ai You Xi has three major product lines: mobile game center, TB game center, and the portal “play.cn”. Together these services have more than 200 million registered users, 30 million MAU, 8,000 games and 1,200 partners.
