President Xi Jinping Visits the US

There is scant news out of China this week ahead of the 7-day National Day holiday (October 1-7), and after another holiday that took place last weekend. It was, however, a very important week in China-US relations with the visit of President Xi Jinping and a summit meeting between President Xi and President Obama. Bill Bishop is a close friend, esteemed China observer, and the author of a very highly regarded newsletter called Sinocism (shameless plug: you should all subscribe and contribute to it).

According to The Sinocism China Newsletter 09.29.15, the summit was a success for both sides, in part because expectations going in were so low. And, it is probably the last time that these two leaders will have a bilateral summit because of the lame-duck period for the US president.
