China Telecom is speeding up broadband services in some cities to 100 Mbps, fast enough for all family members in one dwelling to have uninterrupted access to online videos and online games, among other online digital entertainment options. China has a bold plan to increase the total broadband penetration in the country to 50% and mobile broadband coverage to 32.5% by 2015. The speeds remain slower than other developed countries, sometimes as slow as 4 Mbps to the rural areas, but those are planned to be on the rise as well.
