Niko’s China Games Streaming Tracker ranks more than 600 game titles in China based on 6 different metrics. It helps us, and our clients, identify games that are rising (or falling) quickly in the ranks. Elden Ring (From Software of Japan) has demonstrated strong popularity in the first week.
Elden Ring ranked #3 on our Niko Index in its first week, which is Niko’s approximation of viewers across Chinese game livestreaming platforms DouYu, Huya and Bilibili, reaching 17.1 million cumulative daily average viewers. The title had 17,993 streamers on its first day across these platforms, more than any other game.
Elden Ring is an action RPG game for PlayStation, Xbox and PC launched on February 25, 2022, using a premium business model. While Elden Ring does not yet have an ISBN license for commercial launch in China gamers there are able to download it via Steam or import it on disc via the grey market.
Notably, 27.4% of reviews on Steam are in Simplified Chinese, and 82% of them are positive. The game supports Simplified Chinese on all platforms. On PlayStation, Chinese player QWDSCM was the first player in the world to get the platinum trophy (fully complete the game) after just 5 days. 22 of the top 50 players (by platinum trophy) are from China, according to PSNProfiles.
